Financial Review 2022

What I had achieved in Year 2022.

1) I was promoted in Jan 2022. In terms of financial space, this year is a terrible year for all investors! My portfolio was down -55.62% for the entire whole of 2022 due to rising interest rate, high inflation and the war between Russia and Ukraine. Another setback is also due to I have shifted my investment from dividend investing to growth investing. Growth and Technology stocks were badly beaten and some more they do not give out dividend which might be a lesser pain.

2) In terms of health, I had clocked in 102,000m of swimming for 2022. An average of 2000m per week. Health has significantly improved for this year as I do not have any MC except for the 1 week of home leave due to infected of COVID on 13 Jul 2022.

3) Moving forward for 2023, I will start to go back to dividend investing while still keeping in tact my growth investment. I will not add any more or DCA into my growth investment. Let it recover on its own as this is for long term. Hope it will eventually breakeven sooner than later. If not, this will greatly impact my faith in investment after all these years.

That's all for 2022. A simple short write-up of my achievements in 2022.

I was promoted!

I was promoted on 1 Jan 2022 as Principal Engineer. My last promotion was 3 years ago. Is this promotion consider fast track for high performer? I have been receiving Band 1 for my appraisal for the past 3 years and I was lucky enough before my boss went for his retirement, he had actually pushed for my promotion and gave me a good appraisal for my promotion.

Ever since I know my boss will be retiring, I had actually took up another opportunity from my current boss to transfer to his company or rather "department" to help him. The first 3 months had been a struggle for me as I was trying hard to adapt to the new culture. On top of that, I have to work for another "department" under the same new boss to take on more projects.

Time past very fast when you are busy by taking on more projects. I have to juggle the time spent for each projects and to de-conflict the schedule in order to avoid clashing of meetings and milestone reviews. I would say I am getting more experienced in my area of works after 8 years with the organization. Hopefully the fire will continue to burn and not I being burnt out due to getting more busier after my promotion whereby I have to contribute even more for being more senior now.
